What “dilute” means

The D locus affects pigment intensity. A dog with two copies of the recessive dilute allele can express a diluted coat. Breeders commonly use the terms charcoal for dilute black and silver for dilute chocolate. The current litter includes black, chocolate, charcoal, and silver puppies.

Why the parents matter

Belle is visibly charcoal, so her dilute phenotype is apparent. Remi is chocolate and has been described as carrying dilute genetics. Once his DNA records are provided, the site will publish his exact genotype rather than relying on shorthand descriptions.

Color is only one piece

Coat-color genetics are separate from broader health testing. Our parent profiles will provide verified testing and clearance information when documentation is added.

AKC registration and color terminology

AKC registration status and breed-standard color descriptions are not the same thing. Our registration guidelines will explain exactly what buyers receive and how puppies are registered. We will avoid presenting non-standard color terminology as though it were an AKC standard color classification.
